Double Lakes Wisconsin

As usual i do not know what to write about in this blog but something came to my mind and i decided to write about Double lakes park. Double Lakes Park is a really nice place to go visit because you can do swimming,camping ,hiking, and picnicking. I have been there three time but the last two times were great! because i went with my friend and we went hiking the first time. The first time that i went to that park was to hike the some of the mountains that are there. We went to look for the "devil doors" but we passed it because the map does not seem accurate. The distance i think were around two miles from where we started and got to the bottom.The nice part of walking to the top besides you getting tired from walking ,is the view. the view from the mount is really nice because you can see the lake in the bottom and shines like glass. I was able to take some pictures when i was on the  top of the mount.The second time, my friend ,her son, and i went fishing but it was raining at the beginning of the day and we had to wait a little bit. Since we are not professional fishers and we did not had the right equipment we did not catch anything but we had a good time walking through the rocks to get to the water.

  

 Smallville Superman

Have you heard about the serie of Smallville Superman? Well, if you have not, I will tell you. Smallville Superman  has been my favorite serie since i was 15 years old. I remember that back in Mexico when it was about 5:00 PM, I used to wait for the series to start. Every day of the week at that specific time, It was so exiting about a new episode. Back to the main idea.Smallville superman is the story telling about the young life of super man. Clark Kent lives in smallville a place fall of starnge people because of cryptonite. Cryptonite fell from the universe into the Earth and contaminated the land. As a young man Clark Kent gets in su much trouble traying to recue everybody.With time Clark starts learning about his destiny but this is not an easy way that he has to become a super hero. To become a hero Clark loses many people including his parents who have been with him since he arrived on  earth.I can recomment this serie because it is good to learn English =D .

Doing Presentation for the Electives Class

We have a presentation for introduce a detailed distinct in Madison in the electives class. Bell, Kohwoon, and me are one group to be responsible to do research of the Greenbush. We separated the whole work into ten parts, and every takes charge of three to four parts. We even did the field investigation and interviewed some residents who live and work there for a long time. This afternoon, we did a group meeting o that talking about more details of the presentation in order to make it more perfect for tomorrow. I enjoy that all group members work together for one aim, because we are partners.

Buffet Dinner

My Chinese friend  have already finished his study in UW. He will go back to China to start his new life. So that,  we wanted to have dinner together for farewell. He took me to a Asian cafeteria near the  East Town Mall which is far away from the campus and needs nearly one hour by bus. There is all kinds of food in the cafeteria, such as a variety of seafood, Chinese dishes, sushi and fried food. My friend is famous for his good appetite among groups. I heard so many news about how big stomach he has. So, I was really expected that how much food he can eat at this time. He ate 5 dishes of seafood, three bowls of soup and other food! I envy his very much because he always looks so slim.

Drug addict

Last week, I went to the Regent neighborhood to interview the residents with another classmate. When we interviewed the second guy who looks like upset.  I asked him if he was OK and got the answer that it was OK. However, we didn't think so because he looks like anxious and breathe very hardly. He got a reddish eyes and looks like very tired. After a while, he found everything was OK and answered our questions. Both of us thought that he must have some drugs. We can also felt a very strange odor from his body. He must be the drug addict. It was my first time to see that. I hope I will not see this kind of guys.

Great Dane Fitchburg

Today my father and I went to Great Dan brewer company located in very far Fitchburg. when we get there at 9pm the bar was packed with the customer. We waited for 30 minutes to get a table for us.  After we seated our waiters got us drink and food order in very quick and professional manner. After 20 more minutes, food was delivered cooked very good. It was very delicious and the service was very professional and quick. I got Salad mixed with chicken and my dad had not sure the but I think called All-American burger which was very big, we helped each other to finish the food. the bar was cool, huge and the outside courtyard was perfect. would return again for sure. thank you guys for reading..

Sunflower Day at Friend of Pope Farm Conservancy

Today is Saturday. I started my day moving some of my stuffs using my friend's car to my new apartment. After that I got a message from Allen which inviting me to play volleyball with our friends and teacher. I directly went to the volleyball field to play with them. It was more than 5 years that I have never played volleyball and it was my first time playing beach volleyball. I tried to hit the ball but it's very difficult and hurt. Then I went to Friend of Pope Farm Conservancy to visit their sunflower field. My friends and I were walking around and taking some photos together. The sunflower field was very beautiful, endless, and peaceful. You can see many stages of sunflower, also you can see bumblebees who were flying around the sunflower. In Thailand, we also have sunflower farm in Kanchanaburi and Saraburi province. In my opinion, I think although both of them in Thailand and in Madison are sunflower farm, the environment and atmosphere are different and it makes me feel differently.

Xuan Yu and I went to have our lunch at Mediterranean Cafe on the state street. I've tried this Cafe for one time, and I like the food here so much. I ordered Lamp Akin's plate which contained Lamp shawarma over rice topped with cucumber yogurt sauce, fresh vegetables and 1/2 order of pita bread. The service in this restaurant was very fast because our dishes were served before I completely paid my money. The taste of my dish was interesting with sour and sweet in the same dish. I think I will absolutely come back to this restaurant in the future.

Hello, everybody. Today is July 26th, 2016, which I think the weather is extremely hot. Today, I will talk about Famous Dave's BBQ to which I went on last Saturday. I went there with three of my friends. It was my first to have dinner here. We ordered BBQ Nachos and Feast for Two who four of us were unable to eat all of them. These two dishes were very tasty and delicious. However, I think it was not good for our health because they did not contain a lot of vegetables in these two dishes.

This afternoon, I went to a Chinese tea house named "Kung Fu Tea" on the State Street. I ordered the famous dish"Oolong Tea Cap",because I like milky tea. Bell told me that she wants to lose weight so that she bought a cup of original Oolong tea without sugar. We drunk the cool drink in a cool house and did our homework, sharing some gossip with each other. I think this moment is cozy and I enjoy it very much.

Sweet heart from Miriam

Last Friday, Miriam brung a tray of delicious cake to the class for us guys. It named Tres Leche Cake,  a normal dessert from her hometown, South America. Tres Leche means three different dairy product, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and cream. The first time we tasted it was on the picnic one week ago, I was amazing about the moisture taste and the heavy milk flavor of the cake. But it was so popular among people that I just got a little slice one. Miriam told me that she would bake this kind of cake again to comfort my heart, but I had`t believed that she realize her words! What a surprise for us to taste this delicacy on the class! Miriam made my day!

We had family wedding ceremony this Sunday. The bride and bridegroom are from Colorado. However, both their family and work is in Madison that’s reason they decided to live in Wisconsin especially in Madison. The wedding ceremony happens to be a typical Ethiopian cultural or traditional wedding. About 400 people invited and most of the people did show up. The cultural Ethiopian wedding has some special steps. To give some information about Ethiopian wedding process let me start from the beginning. According to tradition and culture, the bride must be virgin in sense bridegroom expected to be a virgin as well but bride must be virgin when the marriage takes place. Because the bride virginity is highly valued and pride in Christian marriage, with the whole family being shamed if the bride is not virgin at marriage. Rural women, in particular, tend to marry at a very young age than their husbands but most part it’s replaced by modern way of marriage. In the past, it used to be the norm for the bridegroom to be 30 years of age when getting married following the biblical example of Christ who waited until he was 30 years of age before beginning his public ministry. Traditionally the groom's parents search for a bride for their son. Before they make any contact with the bride's parents they investigate to make sure that the families are not related by blood. In the past, they researched back seven generations, but now five generations are acceptable. Ethiopia is a multicultural country with 83 different languages and cultures that make Ethiopia most diverse and attractive place to live. This wedding belongs to wolayta tribe which located southern part of Ethiopia with beautiful and most popular music melody and traditional dance. The ceremony started at Lutheran church in then headed to Middleton Park the main ceremony taken place. Great weekend!

 

Tea egg

This weekend I cooked a typical Chinese savory food which always sold as a snack. It is a boiled egg with tea, sauce and a little spices. It is also known as marble egg because cracks in the egg shell create darkened lines with marble-like patterns. 

The method of making tea eggs is to boil the eggs until fully cooked inside, then remove the hard boiled eggs from the pots and made them into the spiced tea mixture at low heat with sauce and others for an hour. When the eggs and the mixture are removed from the heat, we need to transfer them to a glass or ceramic container for a long time. The eggs can be eaten at any time; however, the longer they are allowed to steep, the richer the flavor will be. The perfect spiced-tea egg should have a perfect balance between the egg's natural flavor and the spices. 

I love them and it taste good.

Today, it was extremely hot day with almost 35 Centigrade. After, I have finished my afternoon class, I went to visit my friend house with another Chinese girl to cook American dish, which is Hamburger. We were shopping at the Fresh Market for some ingredient for cooking hamburger. We got ground beef, hamburger bread, tomato, and lettuce. After that we cooked and had our dinner at my friend's apartment. Our hamburgers were very good and delicious. Suddenly, it was raining heavily, so we decided to take Uber to go back home. It was my first time for cooking hamburger, I think it easy and it's also delicious. However, I forgot to take some photos. 

Offer from Eagle Heights

The apartment which I'm living now is Lucky apartment but it is a sublease. Therefore, I need to find a place to live in fall semester. I searched a lot of information on the website and I went to see at least six kinds of apartments. However, none of them is suitable. Occasionally, my uncle who had a PHD degree here told me that he had lived in Eagle Heights for a year. He recommended me to have a look of that one. 

When I first time went there, I fell in love with it. It was quiet and large, there were so many parking lots there and the bus station was nearby. There was also a big garden there that we could plant some vegetables or fruits there for paying 32 bucks every year. 

All of the buildings were only 2 floors so that we didn't need an elevator.  What's more, the floor plan was also good for me and I applied it as soon as possible after I made the decisions with my roommate. 

However, we waited for half of months but we still didn't receive the offer. Therefore, I skipped the class and went to chat with the coordinator in leasing office. I told my her my condition and hoped  her could help me. Finally, she agreed with my proposal. 3 days later, I got an offer from Eagle Heights! It was really good that I could saved a lot of money for every month!

That was a good thing that I have ever experienced in Madison. I liked it. 

Playing badminton

I was so happy be invited to play badminton with Bell and her Thai friends last afternoon. We appointed play it in  UW Natatorium which is a little far away from my apartment and there is no convenient bus stop to get there, so that I have to walk about 20 mins to go there as a warm-up. This is my first time to do a kind of exercise in a gym here, we rent the free racket from the stuff by Student ID. To be honest, I haven't played it for 5 years, although I took it as an elective course in the second year of my university. I thought that I would forget all skills about how to play it, but not, we played not too bad and co-worked very well. Thanks for Bell and her friends, I had a good afternoon with sports and sweat.

Radio Flyer bike

Today We bought three wheel Radio flyer for my one-year-old boy. It was bought from Walmart and we need to assemble or put it together using manual but it took me about two hours. My schedule was pretty tight and I'm so tired too. This Flyer helps bilateral work out for legs, upper body,  ankle and gives both side body strength and stretch.  After fully assembled,  it's very convenient and easy to carry with you.  Next time I won't start anything before taking enough rest and sleep.  Thanks everyone for reading..! My Husband Helps Me By Eating The Tres Leches Cake.

 

 

I made another cake and I keep it in the refrigerator my husbands keeps eating it. My husband is funny because he keeps telling me that he is helping me to keep on my diet that I cannot eat too much cake because it is not good and he will sacrifice for me. I am sure my cake won't last longer than two days. Last night, my husband hear me saying that I was having a small piece of cake and he told me I will do too, so I served him but it was not enough that he took a huge square for him. I might overestimate the size of my husband and why he is big, he is a well eaten guys.

 

 

 



Music Videos

   I do not know where to start or what to say, I do not think I have done many fun things lately. I will talk about music videos that I found unintentionally and I really enjoy watching and listening to. The first music videos Shakira and Carlos Vives who are Latin singers and the song is called "Bicycle." The music is tropical and the scenario is in a beach for what I can see it might be In a Colombia beach. The people in the video are dancing and in other shots the singers are playing football or riding bicycles. The story that the song describes is about how riding the bicycle can take them to many places and make them happy and also how Shakira enjoys dancing etc. The second video is from an English band called Coldplay and I can share my joy, I really enjoyed watching this video because it shows many unreal things the song is called " Up and Up. "For example in a bowl appears a large building and in other bowls other structures also in a washing machine there are some of those dancing swimmers. In addition, some of the  members of the groups is playing his guitar in the sky surrounded by clouds, the drummer of the group is playing between the mountains while the singer is lying down on top of some mountains and with his leg near a lake. Things like a city upside down are unreal but because is fantasy attracted my attention and the song also sings about achieving something that do not give up.

On Saturday,  Xuan Yu, Allen and I went to the Farmer's market at the Capital. First, we decided to have our brunch at Short Stack Eatery, but we had found that there was lots of people were waiting in front of this restaurant. So we all decided to find somewhere else for our lunch. After we walked along the Farmer's Market, we had found the Old Fashioned Restaurant, which Xuan Yu and Allen suggested that it was very popular and the dished were original American style, so we had our brunch in the restaurant. I ordered Grilled Tenderloin Benedict which tasted absolutely good! Also, Allen got a Grill Cheese Curd which might be too salty and oily, and Xuan Yu had Ham and Eggs which was great too! We had a great brunch and also we spent our time for talking. Moreover, I have got a bunch of cilantro with root from the Farmer's market.

On Sunday at noon, I went to my friend's house for Thai Party. We were having traditional Thai food includes Kanom Jeen Nam Ya, Mee Sou, Kuay Jub, and Kra Por Pla. These dishes were made by my Thai's friends. We were having our lunch, talking about our daily lives, and our problems or situations. Also, it was a birthday party for one of TSA members who will go back to Thailand next month. I were very excited and enjoyed in this party. Moreover, every dishes had their original tastes and it made me missed home. I also attached the photos of some foods that we had.

Haircut

I think haircut in America is so expensive for me.

I had haircut in China for only 50 cents. However, here I need to pay for 12 bucks and 2 tips for them. This is a cheap price in America! I couldn't believe it.

Well I got a good haircut yesterday so I was still happy for that. And I bought a new bicycle. I don't know whether it is good for us cause I only spent 80 bucks on buying it.

Well, This was also a busy weekend and I was still feel tired.

Ethiopian food

Hello friends and classmates. Last Thursday we did cook Ethiopian food called “Enjera bewate”. In our house.  Its two different food combination, Injer and wot(stew). Injera or spongy flat bread is made with Teff that is round and tiny grain that rises and flourishes in the Fareast Africa specifically in the highland of Ethiopia and Eretria. Teff is highly nutritious and it contains no gluten or gluten free food. This makes Teff very interesting food to eat without any health concerns, however still you got put yeast and ferment for one day to get good texture and slightly sour test. But very delicious. If you are interested to try I might get some for you not sure when, but you can also find from any east African restaurants in the United States, that is made from mixture of Teff and Wheat flours, however the one we make is solely Teff flour never mixed with any other flours.

 Incase if you want to try making it here you have some tips:

• 1/4 cup teff flour
• 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 1 cup water
• a pinch of salt
• peanut or vegetable oil or you can check this link:

 The other part is “WAT” if you see the name called “Injera beWAT”. WAT is type of western stew but what makes it different and special is unusual cooking techniques. The preparation of wat begins with chopped onions slow cooked without any fat or oil, in dry pot until all moisture has been removed or driven away. WAT can be made from chicken with hard boiled eggs called DORO-Wat that is traditionally eaten with Injera or spongy flat bread. How we eat, family share and eat together without using any utensil or you got use your hand to eat Injera BeWat that is sign of respect for food. Thanks for reading...!
